The prairie winter continues. Here are a few winter Buffalo images, along with other photos on the ranch.
Wonderful pictures of your bison & ranch surroundings ! You are incredibly blessed to live n such a beautiful place !
I’ve been following Wild Idea for years, glad you’re still working at it
The pictures remind me of growing up in Eastern Montana and the time a Buffalo cow charged the fence at Golden Gate Park and I was face to face with an angry mother
Stay warm
Wonderful pictures. You should sell some of the bison on your website!
Fantastic.
Thank you for sharing all this beauty!
Hello. I am a good friend of Yvons. Wondering if you can ship your product to Canada? Thanks Jim Lawley
What a nice way to start a snowy day here in Central Oregon. Thanks Jill

These photos are awesome. Are there prints for sale?
Beautiful reminder of winter for California fans of Wild Idea.
Judith Schwartz’ book: COWS SAVE THE PLANET – AND OTHER IMPROBABLE WAYS OF IMPROVING SOIL TO HEAL THE EARTH may also be of interest to Buffalo fans.
Magnificent photo of where the road meets the horizon. Absolutely stunning. I believe pink skies are a message – I just haven’t figured it out yet – but I always feel that it is personal.
It’s going to take a while, for Lincoln’s legs, to reach those stirrups but, as fast as time flies, it will probably be no time at all.
Thank you, for all the lovely photographs. The birds are delightful.
Thanks Friends. Good Idea on prints for sale! ;) I am currently working on a selection that we will add to our gift store.
On rabbit image specifically, he or she had been working on eating the leaves off the branch and every time the rabbit would grab the branch and give one of the leaves a tug the snow would shower around it. Love that image too – but the best part was witnessing it!
Great pictures. Reminds me of how beautiful South Dakota and the west river is.
Having prints of your photos available is wonderful…looking forward to seeing them…Don
Jill, thanks for sharing your photography talent. Your photos bring a sense of calmness.
Your winter may be rough and you may need to get away from it sometimes, but it certainly has its beauty too. What a pleasure seeing in winter the bison we saw last June. How they can adapt! Thanks for sharing the pics with us.
Jill and Dan: Love the photos and bringing the memories of growing up in Montana…So glad to see Buffalo honored again..Keep er Going tomk
Stunning photos of a magical place and of majestic creatures I can only dream of. Thank you so much for sharing. You’re amazingly talented.
Some very nice photographs. I wanted to download one for my desktop. Could you save them in Higher Resolution (more Pixels length x width) Please. These look limited and stunted like Instagram does to all their photographs (which is why I do not utilize Instagram)
We Luv your product and your Conservation and Vision.

Such beautiful captures of nature’s gifts. Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful photos! Thanks for sharing them.
thank you
Images so crisp I can smell the air! Thank you for these, we wear flip flops in our winter so it’s beautiful and magical to see this world.
Thank you for sharing these fine photos—you’ve brought the cold in the images!
Thank you for these breathtaking pictures Jill captured magical moments in her pictures. Every season is beautiful. In winter, the animals have their thick coats and you have to dress accordingly to enjoy and endure the cold weather. However, you all live in harmony even if the temperatures dip below the freezing point. I am looking forward to other set of pictures to help me and others to imagine how you live with your herd and nature all year round. They make me turn green with envy. I wish that I could visit your ranch at least for a day to experience what you do daily.
Eureka! Jill as always you capture the beauty of “Wild Idea”with photos as well as Dan does with his words!. Especially like the Rabbit and the “lil buckeroo”. although youve just started him on one of the earths most expensive “Addictions!” OK so its one of the most satisfying as well. Have a good Ride!
Beautiful; makes me homesick.
Thank you for sharing the awesome glimpses of life on the ranch!
THANK YOU so much for fabulous beautiful photos and all the stories of your past mailings Makes me homesick for the Blk Hills(lived there 1971-79)now in Utah. I learned so much from the Lakota Sioux. Also lived on a 4,000 acre ranch in Sundance Wyoming for one summer where I learned ALL aspects of ranch life…my first roundup-first branding party-learned how to make butter-cottage cheese- preserves-sausages etc. One of the best experiences of my life. I LOVE what you are all doing on your ranch. Being an extreme animal lover/rescuer….I love that you DO NOT use slaughter houses. Keep up the GREAT WORK!!!!
Reminds of the best ten years of my life in the Black Hills(1971-1980) was camping in the Badlands heavy rains woke us up early…we walked over a ridge to see how weather was progressing…BOOM…face to face with a bison…we didn’t run-we sat down..remained very quiet and I swear….we were communicating for several minutes….he then snorted and went on his way…….as you know…….it was MAGICAL.
Beautiful. Thank you.
We visited the Conata Basin Ranch in October and delivered buffaloes to your ranch with Doug and Dusty. We were in awe of the beauty of the land at that that time and your winter photos add to our appreciation of the special place you call home to pursue your passion.
Beautiful photos!
Hello from my snowy Switzerland ,réal winter this year! But,thanks to send your wonderful photos,I wish I could come to your beautiful place. And thanks for what you do for preserving it. Love Claude(

Beautiful pictures! Do you make calendars?
Thanks Jill. Your beautiful photos even pull in my sense of smell. The super cold, sharp, dry air frosting the inside of my nose. Winter on the plains.
Just gorgeous! These huge creatures look magical in the winter snow.
Spectacular photos…some of them made me want my jacket. Thanks for sharing….
Love your work! Do you ever need volunteers for a few days?
Great photos Jill. Dale Lamphere and I helped Tom Trople and Josh and crew work their Buffalo calves last wkend in the foggy snowy cold weather. Great experience to be up close to these amazing animals. An old country boy loves the conservation and stewardship blog and photos of the ranch that you share. Thank you.
Reminds me of beautiful cold mornings in Rapid City.
Beautiful pictures of your bison and ranch. Thank you for taking care of these magnificent beasts and keeping the West alive, with its grasses and original “cattle.”
Symbols of the west and native Americans. I love to watch and listen to them
