Meet Jilian Jones

Many of you are aware that the founder of Wild Idea Buffalo Company is Dan O'Brien. But, over the past 23 years (Yes, it's really been 23 years!), more of the family has become integrated into the business and have vital roles that continue to move our greater mission of regenerating and conserving The American Great Plains Prairie forward.

So, meet Jilian Jones, daughter of Dan and Jill and Wild Idea's General Manager (and so much more)!

  • Thank you so much Jilian for sharing your values, your beautiful children and family, and most of all the absolutely wonderful concept your family began and you and your family are continuing. The buffalo are being raised as they were born to be and are healthy. Therefore the meat they provide those of us who have come to value the pureness of the grass fed buffalo are eating as we were intended. Keep up the good work and may you and your family continue to prosper and raise these magnificent animals for many generations to come.

  • The world needs more people like Jillian. So wonderful to see that she’s still the hard working, dedicated young woman we met in “Buffalo for the Broken Heart.”

  • So, is it true that you have to milk that damn cow everyday, even Christmas?

  • I have been a customer of Wild Idea, for 10 years and have witnessed your growth from a room in the basement of your house to your current facility, and have had the privilege of having all of you help me when I come to pick up my bison meat. It is nice to see some video about where some of them live, and Jilian has grown into a beautiful woman, with Jill’s good looks and apparently both of your sensibilities about your bison, your land and the environment. Really happy to see that she is passing that all along to her beautiful kids too.

  • Thank you Jillian for caring about the land and raising your meat right! It is a joy to see a family raising their children the right way with good values being passed down from generation to generation. You are making a big difference in the health of the earth! Thank you for making it possible for us to be able to make a difference in the health of the earth by choosing your yummy buffalo!

  • It’s so nice to see family members, working out on the range with those beautiful Buffalo. And as a General Manager Jillian does a great job teaching her children the importance of being around different type of animals, and how to live off the land.Eating Buffalo and cooking the meat is a experience in it self, the meat is so healthy and delicious and i’m glad her children are learning at a early age what Buffalo mean to native americans and other walks of life. Also i’m glad to see Daniel O’Brien sharing these video’s about the land, the Buffalo and his family and worker’s and what they do on this amazing Ranch,Thank you for sharing.

  • SO GOOD! Loved this video..thank you…I will send this on to my adult children. Perhaps they will find our ranch a similar instrument to foster the love of Mother Earth and her children, especially to our 4 yr old old grandson.

  • Thanks, Jilian, for sharing your life and love of nature. Not everyone is lucky enough to be as close to their food sources as you and the rest of the family, but you give them a taste of the good life. Thanks for all you, and WIBC, do. For us. Hugs!
